Easy QuickBooks Tips for Making Your Bookkeeping A Breeze

If you are a small business setting up accounting software for the very first time, you will love these five useful QuickBooks tips.

QuickBooks Tip #1: Convert to QuickBooks January 1

Converting to a new accounting system at the beginning of a new year, makes the whole process much easier if you plan on doing everything yourself.

This tip may mean that if you are going at it alone, you need to wait a few months until the end of the year rolls around. Or, this tip may mean that you need to go back a few months and re-enter data. Even with these minor inconveniences, starting on January 1 makes the QuickBooks setup easier.

QuickBooks Tip #2: Get Your Accountants Help

Your Accountant will be able to get you up and running on QuickBooks with his or her eyes closed and one hand tied behind their back. It will take no time at all for your Accountant to set up your business and have it done correctly the first time. Having a professional setup your entire QuickBooks and then provide you with training and ongoing support, is the absolute best idea if you are not super computer savvy.

QuickBooks Tip #3: Outsource Your Payroll

One of the trickier bookkeeping jobs in any business is the payroll. Therefore, consider paying a service such as a local payroll company to handle this particular job. You do not want to get caught up with the state, government and the IRS if payroll taxes are not done correctly.

QuickBooks Tip #4: Grab Data Online

Download data from banks, PayPal, vendors, and then important into QuickBooks automatically.

QuickBooks Tip #5: Go All The Way With QuickBooks

Do all your accounting with QuickBooks. Don’t decide you’re going to do almost everything with QuickBooks except for “X,” which you’ll do with some complicated semi-manual system that requires Microsoft Excel. The piecemeal approach rarely, almost never works well.

It makes sense to me that if you are going to switch to new accounting software, that you do it in the beginning of the year and you use ONLY that software. Good tips here!

I have tried to use two different types of software and after awhile, I find that I am using one more than the other. Switching to just one was not an easy step, but one that I do not regret.

Yes, I totally agree with what you said. I think that it is better to get an assistance from your accountant especially if you are not that good in computers. Thanks for sharing this article. These are all helpful tips.
